Requirements for Home Schooled Running Start Students

In order for a home-school student to participate in Running Start, they will need to make sure to enroll with their local public school district first.

The Office of Superintendent for Public Instruction (OSPI) and the State Board for Community and Technical College (SBCTC) also require that all home-school Running Start students complete a Running Start Enrollment Verification Form (EVF) and have it signed by the student's public high school Running Start representative. A new EVF is required to be completed and submitted every term and is a requirement for all Running Start students*.

  • You can download the Enrollment Verification Form on the Running Start Forms page.
  • Students need a signature from a representative in their home district.
  • The public high school representative varies from district to district.
  • Although the home-schooled student is not likely to be taking courses at the public high school, it is still necessary for the public school representative to sign off on the EVF.

Updated June 2026

* Students in the Puyallup School District, in the Steilacoom Historical School District, or at Bonney Lake High School only need to submit an EVF to Pierce College for the summer term. They will still need to check in with their high school representative each term but they will not need to provide an EVF to Pierce College for the fall, winter, and spring terms.
